Port Hood Minor Baseball is expecting to field at least 4 teams in the 11U and 13U divisions for the 2018 season and we need 4 more certified umpires!

Home plate umpires earn $30 per game, and 2nd base umpires get $25. Our games are usually around 2 hours long, and played out of Port Hood and Judique ball fields. The season runs from mid June until September. The atmosphere is friendly and the crowd is laid back. 

The next Level 1 course nearby is Sunday, May 6th in Antigonish. There may be a course scheduled in Port Hawkesbury soon as well.

Port Hood Minor Baseball will pay for your clinic ($70) and your uniform ($75) to get you started, and we’re purchasing protective umpire gear ($150) for both fields for the home plate umpires.

Winter Baseball Workouts

Port Hood Minor Baseball will be holding workouts at the Bayview gym for the upcoming season. These sessions will be open to players in the mosquito and peewee divisions (birth years 2005-2009). Due to space constraints a max of 30 players will be taken.

The first session begins this Friday Feb 23rd from 3-5pm and the second session the following Friday March 2 from 3-5pm. Players can wear shorts/track pants, running shoes, t-shirt, and cap and bring their gloves. No bats required.

Depending on gym availability there will be a minimum of 1 session per week with the possibility of 2 per week in April.

The cost will be $40 for all sessions payable by cash or cheque made out to Port Hood Minor Baseball. E-transfer can be sent to sheldon@lpelectric.ca. Please make password “baseball”. All money received will be used to purchase new equipment for the upcoming season.

Players must bring a note to their teacher saying that they have permission to stay after school.

Girls Come Try Baseball Event Feb. 17

Baseball Nova Scotia is having a Girls Come Try Baseball Camp on February 17th from 2:30pm to 4:30pm at Richmond Academy in Louisdale. No previous baseball experience required. Ages 9 to 14. Several Nova Scotia High Performance coaches and athletes will be attending.
