With another successful minor baseball and softball season winding down it’s time to get ready for our 3rd Annual 100 Inning Ball Game in Port Hood. This is the primary fundraiser for Dave Muise Ball Field, and it only works with the help of all our players!
The game will be played on Saturday, September 8th starting at 10am. Different age groups will be made into 2 teams to compete all day long. The score is carried over from one age group to the next for 100 innings.
To earn prizes players will need to get their friends, neighbours, and families to sponsor them at 10¢ an inning (print off your own info sheet and pledge sheet). For every $100 in pledges raised by a player their name is entered into a draw with a grand prize of a new Apple iPod Touch 32GB.
Last year we raised close to $2,000 and Carson MacEachern won the iPod! The funds helped pay for our new infield soil and upcoming dugout repairs.
This is a family fun day with food and drinks available. Children and parents of all ages are welcome to participate in the game. You don’t have to play minor ball or even raise money to participate – we can probably even lend you a ball glove!
Be sure to pass this on to anyone you think might be interested in participating, and let me know if you’d like to help out.
There will be tryouts for the CB West Warriors 11U Mosquito baseball team this week at the Judique ball field. This is for children born in 2007, 2008, 2009. These tryouts are for players interested in playing on a rep/travel team. Tryout dates/times are as follows:
The 11U Warriors baseball team will play in Baseball Nova Scotia’s Bluenose League again this year. League play usually consists of 1 doubleheader per weekend and begins the last weekend of May. We will be attending 3 travel tournaments throughout the summer plus the provincial tournament at the end of August. There is a high commitment level expected for this team, similar to other sports with rep teams (i.e. hockey). The only additional costs for playing are for team clothing orders & tournament fees.
Port Hood Minor Baseball will also be offering an 11U Mosquito team that will participate in the local Cape Breton league, start dates TBD.
Players selected for the Warriors team will be notified via email if they are successful and first weekend of practices start May 19/20.
Port Hood Minor Baseball will be holding Spring workouts for Peewee age players at the Dalbrae gym on Monday evenings. These sessions will be open to players in the Peewee division and above (birth years 2004-2006). Due to space constraints a max of 30 players will be taken.
The first session will be Monday April 23rd from 6-7:30pm. Players can wear shorts/track pants, running shoes, t-shirt, and cap and bring their gloves. No bats required.
Pre-registration is required to ensure we don’t exceed our numbers. Please email or call/text Brent MacEachern at email@example.com or 902-631-4864.
The cost will be $40, payable by cash or cheque made out to Port Hood Minor Baseball. E-transfer can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please make password “baseball”. All money received will be used to purchase new equipment for the upcoming season.
